Surrealist writing game - BarCamp Manchester 2
A lovely piece of fun at Manchester Barcamp 2 was the surrealist writing game, led by poet & interactive artist Maya Chowdhry.
Write down nouns & their definitions, half of the nouns being tech, and half abstract. Now separate the word from the definition (cut the paper in half) and randomly join nouns and definitions. We were blown away by some of the results, but read them and see for yourself…
A computer is cyber strings all over us
Forgiveness is not being awake and instead dreaming
Peace is painful & unpleasant
Facebook is photo editing software, like photoshop, but open source
Love is creative play with technology
Faith is freedom whether you want it or not
Ubuntu is massively time consuming addictive way to stay in touch with lots of people most of which you didn't really want to connect with anyway

Hackspace is being stuck under piles and piles of people's complaints printed on bricks
Hurt is Linux or human beings
An ISDN line is splendid

A person is like a shower of synapses running over your shoulders
Poetry is when we all stop fighting
External Harddrive is people being interactive
GIMP is stepping into the unknown with confidence that you will be okay
GNU is words trying to take flight
Facebook is often misunderstood
evil is trying to forget
pressure is a way of communicating with beautiful people new and old, networking
Art is another metal box to help you store more things
The Internet is when you realise your pain whether physical or spiritual
Sleep is ONES and ZEROES
